WYA X Championship July 24-25

The WYA got their full complement of 4 races in this weekend at Delavan Lake Yacht Club. It was tight at the top of the leaderboard and it must have felt like home for three of the top four boats as they hailed from Pewaukee Yacht Yacht Club, with Pine sneaking in at number 2. Defending ILYA Junior Fleet Champion Kamron Kaiser with crew Peter Goggins held off Charlie Bruss and Will Barkow and defending ILYA Senior Fleet Champion Charlie Allen and Stuart Niedziela for a close fought victory with only 2 points separating the top three. Lake Beulah finished with 3 boats, Delavan 2 and Cedar 1, to round out the top ten in a fleet of 55 boats.

QUINT

The 2021 X Boat Seaon got off to a rousing start last week with the Quint held at LaBelle and the AJH held at Cedar.

Karen Trepton reports on the Quint from LaBelle:

That’s a wrap! A big thank you to our race committee and other volunteers who made this years’s QUINT regatta a success! 15 boats participated from Labelle, Okauchee, North, Nagawicka and Pewaukee.

A storm blew through at the start of the first race, forcing everyone back onto shore, but after an early lunch, the sun and wind came up and we were back in business. PRO Mark Prange set the stage for four consecutive races, and the kids were all in!

Here are the top three overall and the race winners.

First Place: V10 John Lieber and Nick Berkowitz

Second Place: NO5 Cole Thompson and Holden McGoldrick
